New kernel...now how do I get grub.conf to refer to it?

Howdy,

I just recompiled my kernel (2.4.22-2115.nptl) and have copied the new bzImage to the /boot directory. But I haven't the first notion of what to do with grub.conf. Do I make a new entry (or comment out the existing one? Do I use the same initrd image as with the last kernel, with this new one? Do I also use the same root argument value for the kernel command for my new kernel? I am used to LILO but have never used GRUB before. I have looked in the 'info grub' pages, and didn't see anything that could help me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Michael
