Yes I did notice that a .wav file was placed in my /home directory. I've looked at the program and all of the options/preferences and find no place that indicates a conversion of mp3 to wav. Is there some command line thingy that I should use? As you can tell I'm very new to Linux [been a DOS person since mid 1970's].
Mac
Go to Options -> Preferences on XMMS. Under the 'Audio I/O' tab, you'll see a drop down for 'Output Plugin' and select the OSS Driver...click Apply. If you don't have the OSS Driver (or another Mp3 plugin?), you'll need to install one.
