Latex2html, japanese, and accents

    Folks,

I guess that this is mainly addressed to whoever packages
tetex-latex, but may be of interest to others.

The version of latex2html which comes with tetex-latex-2.0.2-13
havs 'japanese' as default language (see
/usr/share/latex2html/l2hconf.pm, lines 735 and 927).

While in general is probably not the best option, the problem is
that I found no (documented) way of overriding them but by changing
this configuration file by hand (the -iso_language option did not
work). The effect of not changing it is that HTML files end up with
japanese encoding, and accented characters are displayed with japanese
script.

    Best,
