I think that you are looking for the command that is equal to "netsend?"
The corresponding command under linux is...

smbclient -M winhostname message

Subject: Messanger

Dear Users

I am running a fedora box and lots of win workstations.
Is there a messenger available that I can install on my network?
If a message is sent that it will popup and display it to the user.

Thank you

JC
