OK, Well I haven't read it and from the past two replies, I don't think I have to. Whether it was staged or not (and with his knowledge or not, from what's already been said he obviously wasn't the sharpest tack in the box) is moot. Unfortunately, among those of us <big collective here> who are most knowledgable about linux, are the only people who remember what it was like configuring sound and video (and networks) in the MS-DOS and pre Windows 98 days. Newcomers don't realize the hell our users used to put us through! You think you've got it bad now. Pffft! In your dreams! Compared to getting your average sound and video boards to work right in windows 3.1 redhat 6 was a piece of cake. Fedora is a dream to install. Now I haven't played with the smp kernel yet (2nd processor for my 44BX board is shipping as I write this! :)) uh...) (that was awkward)(where was I? Oh, yeah...) but I'm looking forward to it. (BTW, anyone have any experiences to relate about using Vmware GSX under FC1 smp? If so, please start a new thread.) OK, there are some things in 98 that are still difficult, but it handled the hardware in existance when it was released (and for some time after) pretty well.
