Re: yum update 2179 kernel

Yeah, sounds like your problem is more complicated than mine was. The only problems I saw after I updated my kernel is that the default kernel did not change to 2179, but it did show up in GRUB at boot. All I did was change the default and I was up and going.

Now, for you, I'd recommend you run "yum update" another time to see if it can't finish the job. Then reboot. If no joy there, I personally would back up my data NOW and take a chance and get webmin to try and do the job. If you've got a day or two to see more posts on this for better advice, you would be wise to get them all before making any moves.

Best of luck to you...

OK, I do have the GRUB module for WebMin. When I click it, it says GRUB is
not installed. That is consistent with yum saying it couldn't find a boot
loader and my not finding a /boot/grub.conf file. However, I know Grub was
installed when I did the initial FC1 install, AND

1. When I reboot, I get the graphical screen that says GRUB 0.83, and a
choice of 2 kernels, 2115 and 2174.

So why does it think that grub is not installed - Did the conf file just
disappear? Do you think I should go ahead and use Webmin's grub install?
