Changing Hostname

I'm attempting to change the hostname of my box.  I used the following
steps to change the hostname:
1.  Edited /etc/sysconfig/network to change the
HOSTNAME=newname.example.com
2.  Edited /etc/hosts to 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
newname 
3. Ran /bin/hostname newname

I seem to be missing something because opening a web browser just
hangs.  What other places need to be changed to change the hostname?
