I guess, in a sad way, I'm glad to see this go unanswered for a couple hours, since in 4 weeks of googling I can't figure it out myself. Mozilla has a -newwin option that should have dealt with this, but it didn't work for me with Firefox. And I'd want "-newtab," anyway.
