Alexander, In the thread "Custom Kernel HOWTO" on this list, Mandar Deodhar replyed to William Sullivan and gave a mini-HOWTO for compiling a custom kernel. In that reply he wrote: "Red Hat( and Fedora) users will have to patch the "etc/rc.sysinit" script to set "/proc/sys/kernel/modprobe" to "sbin/modprobe". He also listed the 'make install' step, but I overlooked it because I was editing GRUB by hand. *snip* >For which reason the rc.sysinit (line 422) change in 14?!
