When I tried the .303 kernel version, I had the same behaviour.  The .300 
version that preceeded it works okay.  There is a .305 out now I didn't try 
yet, maybe it is fixed.

What I would do is stick modprobe uhci-hcd in /etc/rc.local as a dirty hack 
until you can update your kernel to one that works properly with this.
