It would appear that on Apr 4, Brian Bober did say: > Sorry about the subject of this thread btw, I forgot to give it a name.. I'm > still not sure what I'm posting is appearing in the thread. It might take more > than giving it the same subject. I'm not sure if its possible to post within a > thread when using digest mode for a list. Is it? Well that _MAY_ depend on your mail client. I'm using pine and if I "view" an "message" attachment and select reply while so viewing, My reply gets Both the individual subject and the "In-Reply-To:" header line. I can tell because if I turn on full header mode and look at my outbox, the "In-Reply-To:" header IS there. But I suppose some brain dead mail clients don't have the ability to reply to an individual message attachment and can only reply to the whole list. Which probably breaks the thread logic (that must frustrate threaded list readers almost as much as replying to an existing thread with a new topic) or actually, I wonder if that could cause a threaded reader to sort the new message to an arbitrarily determined existing thread???? Speaking for myself, I think the best way to start a NEW thread would be to put the lists address in your address book and start a new message without using "reply"... BTW: if you can't get your mail client to automatically insert the correct subject on an reply to a specific message I'd presume the thread will get messed up on it... Perhaps one of the threaded list readers would like to help you figure out how to get YOUR mail client to use the right "In-Reply-To:" header for replies to existing threads?? -- | --- --- | Joe (theWordy) Philbrook <o> <o> | J(tWdy)P ^ | <<jtwdyp@xxxxxxxx>> /---\ "bla bla bla..." | \___/ "...and bla..."
