Well in the past I used to do a one liner that always worked;

echo `which startkde` > ~/.xinitrc

That would create a file called ".xinitrc" in your home
directory and add the path of KDE, which in my case is:

	/usr/bin/startkde

There are other ways but this was always easy for me and since I
never really dabble with other desktops.
