yum mirrors and load balancing (UTB: Re: yum will not work!)

Wouldn't something like a load balancer, as with IRC, be a good idea for
Yum? So a few primary servers which redirect clients to other servers
based on their locations relative to the client (client pings) and based
on the load of the servers themselves (yum servers which tell the
central server the number of current connections)?
