this is not a hardware issue..
it is regarding the rpm package..it may be corrupted.. try downloading a new version of the rpm..

I have just tried to install an rpm and the process stopped part way
through and announced Segmentation Fault.

Is this a hardware or software problem? I am suspecting that this means
I had a corrupt download. More importantly ... whats the answer.
