SSH of course works without problems on Fedora, both as server as well as client. You can use SSH for tunneling too, as a "lightweight" VPN. But I would highly recommend that you switch off every telnet daemon! And just use POP3S and IMAPS instead of the normal daemons without SSL/TLS encryption. Actual clients on Windows[tm] and Linux do support these secured services.
