I will say that going from 8 to FC1 was not a perfect upgrade but it worked for me. Most applications worked with no problems.Am Di, den 16.03.2004 schrieb pablo gietz um 18:21:

Thanks
You certainly can. It depends on some criteria if it is wiser to do an offline upgrade using the CDs of FC1, to do an online upgrade or to do a clean new install. If you have a highly customized RH8 system a fresh install might be better after backing up all data. the decision you have to make your own.

Any customized stuff may have problems but that is expected. Mainly with where RH/FC installs software in comparison to applications that were downloaded from the maintainers site. FC came with some applications that I had installed from source or other rpms and installed in different locations.
After 3 months I have found only a few problems and most of these are not related to RH8 or FC but customized applications or configuration files.
Use the CD's for the upgrade and then apply the patches. Just after I upgraded one machine from RH8 to FC, I built a new machine using FC and it was a dream.
