Hi, I'm running a webserver with Fedora Core 1 and have troubles with an (yet unkown) daily running cronjob. It seems that a process started from /etc/cron.daily at 4:02h in the morning freezes the linux kernel so the server returns back to work by a hardware reset only... :-( Unfortunatly I cannot find out which one is the process responsible for the server crash. I tried to run each job from console myself but everything was fine, no errors or kernel freezes. The last entries in some logfiles are exactly at 4:02 o'clock (Apache logs and cron logfile) and the crashed happened for the third time today - last programs executed were always the daily cronjobs... Here's a list of my cronjobs: root@localhost:~ > ll /etc/cron.daily/ total 11 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 Mar 5 04:44 00-logwatch -> ../log.d/scripts/logwatch.pl -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 288 Mar 8 12:27 00webalizer -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 276 Jul 10 2003 0anacron -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 180 Aug 1 2003 logrotate -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 418 Oct 13 21:27 makewhatis.cron -rwxr-x--- 1 root root 61 Feb 19 02:30 mysql_check.cron -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1455 Oct 27 20:32 prelink -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 104 Jul 18 2003 rpm -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 132 Jan 21 20:52 slocate.cron -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 193 Jun 6 2003 tmpwatch -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 136 Feb 23 22:12 yum.cron Also I cannot find anything about similiar troubles in Google... I hope that someone may help - or maybe anybody else knows this strange behaviour and founds a solution? thanks & best regards, talex
