Hi, where can I learn more about the differences among rpm, yum and apt?

Could you be more specific... rpm or tarball? rpm -ivh <package> for rpm you can also use yum or apt, those would solve dependencies
if it is a tarball, my wild guess is to read the README/INSTALL files
