Anjuta is a light and very nice C/C++ IDE for Gnome desktop users, and KDevelop is also very nice for KDE ones. Of course you can run either on the other desltop, but I prefer not runnung KDE apps under Gnome and vice-versa (reduces memmory consuption). Eclispe Plataform + CDT is also becoming a very nice IDE, one you can use also under other OSes (for example, Windoze + mingw) []s, Fernando Lozano
