This is the exact trace from comment 28 in the bug report.  I suggest:

a) Configure up2date to use a mirror.
b) Use "export http_proxy=http://chadley:xxxxxx000.000.000.000:80";

If it works, please put a comment the bug saying so.  If not:

a) Add yourself to the CC: list of the bug
b) Configure yum to use a mirror
c) Use yum

If yum doesn't work, please start a new thread and include details.
