Downgrading from RHEL

Hi,

this might be slightly OT; if there's a better place to discuss this,
just let me know.

I am considering buying a RHEL license for one server, but I am a little
concerned about what might happen if I decide not to renew the
subscription after it expires.

I know RHEL sources are public, so theoretically I could live on by
manually updating the system, since I would lose RHN access (I know
there are apt-get repos like Dag Wieer's, which would make things a lot
easier). However, is this advisable at all? Anyone out there been on
this situation?

If I come to the conclusion that a full reinstall will be necessary if I
ever drop RHEL, this might influence the decision of trying RHEL.

TIA

Andre
