Hi Ppl, Is it possible to set udma3 on a cdrom? I get the following error. [root@chadlin mnt]# hdparm -X udma3 /dev/cdrom /dev/cdrom: setting xfermode to 67 (UltraDMA mode3) HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(setxfermode) failed: Input/output error [root@chadlin mnt]# The reason I want to increase the dma is for cd ripping speed. Currently take about half an hour to rip one CD with 18 tracks. This is nonsense, My windows box does the same job in 6 mins. Both my boxes are P4s lot of ram and fast drives. Chad
