Ok everyones going to pound this post with responses.

so Lets narrow it down -

I'm trying to put a few more apps I would like to use on my desktop,
such as Financial applications so I can track my bills. the spread sheet
is nice. but its not nice enough .

So in otherwords, where can I find linux apps based on catogory.

How will I know it will work on fedora?

Freshrpms.net is not very user friendly.
