Mozilla, Firefox and Thunderbird Radio buttons grayed

When I go into the preferences of either Mozilla, Firefox or Thunderbird 
the radio buttons are grayed. I can still select them but you get no 
feed because all the buttons are grayed. Epiphany and Galeon do not have 
this problem.
I installed Garnome recently, but I didn't really like it so l went back 
to using the FC1 installed gnome. When I went back to using the regular 
Gnome I noticed  the above problem and the fact that the Gnome Splash 
screen wouldn't clear unless you clicked on it. So I rename all the 
gnome configuration directory for my login and logged out and logged 
back in and this fixed the Splash screen problem but I still have this 
radio button problem with the Mozilla apps. Any ideas how to fix it?
