Hi guys, I'm trying to setup my Canon BJC-255SP printer locally (/dev/lp0) with the CUPS printing sub-system. Has anyone got this printer (or similar) working? redhat-config-printer successfully installed it, but test jobs are not working (i.e. nothing prints!). The output of /var/log/cups/error_log suggests that the device used, "bjccolor" is unknown. `gs -h` confirms this and the only similar device available would probably be "bjc600". Errors: D [09/Mar/2004:18:31:51+1000] [Job 7] renderer command: gs -q -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dQUIET -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=bjccolor-sPrinterType=BJC-250' D[09/Mar/2004:18:31:51 +1000] [Job 7] foomatic-gswrapper: gs'-dBATCH' '-dPARANOIDSAFER' '-dQUIET''-dNOPAUSE''-sDEVICE=bjccolor''-sPrinterType=.. D[09/Mar/2004:18:31:51+1000] [Job 7] Unknown device: bjccolor Ultimately, I always end up with this error every time: D [09/Mar/2004:18:31:51 +1000] [Job 7] Possible error on renderer command line or PostScript error. Check options. E [09/Mar/2004:18:31:51 +1000] PID 1966 stopped with status 3! Some googling suggests to install ESP Ghostscript instead of GNU Ghostscript (which supposedly has "bjccolor" compiled in) but all attempts to do this fail with dependency issues. The error above also suggests to "check options", but damned if I knew where! I've never been able to set up this printer properly in all RH versions in the past, despite the linuxprinting DB specifying this printing as status "works perfectly". ROFL.. *Any help/ideas/suggestions/etc would be very much appreciated. Thanks, -- Matt
