struggling with getting fc1 running 2.6 kernel to run madwifi

I' ve been trying to get this setup to work on my toshiba laptop for a 
few weeks now, with no success.  My suspicion is that all of the 
solutions I've tried -- rpms, compiling, etc. -- aren't meant to be used 
with the 2.6 kernel... can anybody confirm this, or suggest something 
else to try?
