I have had the same problem occur using vmware and Fedora. The same discs worked for installing when vmware was not involved.


What version of VMWare did you use?

Look at the archives.  It's a known issue with VMWare (for the last couple
of RH versions too, IIRC).

Why use  vmware anyhow, you need a 100Gbyte cpu to handle that program
