You cant stop technology from moving on, I have seen everything from the first 386 cpu right through to the the latest XEON and no matter how hard you try to be ahead, what was today will be something new tomorrow. The good news is that dvd combo drives are in the peak of PC style Hardware fashion. If you cant afford one its a pity, If you wont afford one, then you are crying over pocket money. In SA they are already selling at R385 which is approx R386 / 6 = $64 [Dollars] and R386 / 12 = #32 [pounds] Peanuts if you asked me. trading your old and pay in the difference it is worth it and you will only get left behind if you don't. As for linux on DVD great Idead for those of us who carry 50+ cds around with us. I personally keep a spare dvd drive [cost me R133 new] and converted every thing to DVD. But I hit a brick wall everytime I try a Linux Distro. So YES YES YES to Lin on dvd my R0.2c Cheers Maddy On Mon, 2004-03-01 at 07:15, Jeff Lasman wrote: > On Sunday 29 February 2004 01:13 pm, Alexandre Strube wrote: > > That's NOT what Zach wrote. > > What Zach is suggesting is a DVD-only distribution, with a script on it > people can run to create CD-ROM ISOs if necessary. > > Which I personally disagree with, but I've already seen some issues of > Linux Format do that for their DVD distributions. > > Jeff > -- > Jeff Lasman, nobaloney.net, P.
