Thats weird that its looking for or trying to load a sound? Have you tried using your usbstick with windows to see what happens? Im guessing but maybe its trying to play through the sound card a beep etc. to let you know it's loaded. My usbstick flashes a light when it loads. That would explain why its slow. It's searching for whats not there? I have a cheap Comp U.S.A. 16MB flash drive (usbstick) it works fine. TRy another usbstick (flash drive). My setup also lets me mount a ZiO! card reader for smart media disks. Somebody else asked me about any messages to /var/log/message, and out of thousands of lines I got the following (which I thought was relevant): > > > > Feb 22 18:33:01 localhost netfs: Mounting other filesystems: > > succeeded > > Feb 22 18:33:01 localhost netfs: Mounting other filesystems: > > succeeded > > > > Feb 22 22:03:30 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-slot-1 > > Feb 22 22:03:30 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service- > > > > Feb 23 10:24:32 localhost kernel: Mount cache hash table entries: 512 > > (order: 0, 4096 bytes) > > > > Feb 23 10:28:28 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service-0-3 > > > > Feb 23 14:26:57 localhost netfs: Mounting other filesystems: > > succeeded > > Feb 23 14:26:58 localhost netfs: Mounting other filesystems: > > succeeded > > > > Feb 24 00:03:43 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-slot-1 > > Feb 24 00:03:43 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service-1-0 > > Feb 24 00:03:43 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-slot-1 > > Feb 24 00:03:43 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service-1-0 > > Feb 24 00:03:51 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-slot-1 > > Feb 24 00:03:51 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service-1-0 > > Feb 24 00:03:51 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-slot-1 > > Feb 24 00:03:51 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service-1-0 > > Feb 24 00:03:53 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-slot-1 > > Feb 24 00:03:53 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module > > sound-service-1-0 > > > > Regarding the entry on my /etc/fstab file for the usb memory stick, I manually made the following entry: > > > > /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbstick auto noauto,user 0 0 5 > > > > Any thoughts? > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: Bob Chiodini <chiodr@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > > Date: Wed, 25 Feb 2004 13:24:20 -0500 > > To: fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx > > Subject: Re: usbstick processes still very slow with Fedora C1 > > > > > On Wed, 2004-02-25 at 12:45, Javier Gonzalez wrote: > > > > After updating to Fedora Core 1 from Red Hat 9 (shrike), using my > > > > memory stick has become somewhat of a hassle.
