Re: How to determine Kernel version

I was under the impression that the orignal post was to determine which
kernel was the currently running kernel. Therefore, my simple script.
However, I never intended this to go to such lengths as to discuss many
more options.

There could be a much more elaborate script that would satisfy most
users but not all. The semantics of how one arrives at a result is also
very subjective. I think thus far we have had 7 people who have
responded with 7 different variations. If we had 100 responders, we'd
have 100 variations.

My point is, if it's useful use it...if you want to make changes for
yourself ... make them.... if you think they would be useful to
others... publish it!!!

We're all here to help each other and we all have different ways at
arriving at the same answer.

I follow the KISS principal in all my coding (Keep It Simple Stupid),
which has served me well for many many years.
