That gives me this warning when I load the module:

Warning: ignoring enable_midi=1, no such parameter in this module

I also tried the parameter "mpu_port=0x300" as suggested at the bottom
of the same page, with no luck.

When I try to open /dev/sequencer I get this message in the log:

ALSA ../../../alsa-kernel/core/seq/oss/seq_oss_init.c:213: no device found
