We're going to need more detailed information. Which yp commands did you use to verify that NIS was working properly? Does 'ypwhich' print the name of your NIS server? Does 'ypcat -x' list your nicknames table? Does 'ypmatch nameofusergoeshere passwd' print the user's entry in your passwd map? Exactly what changes did you make to /etc/nsswitch.conf? If you're logging in via sshd, did you restart sshd after modifying /etc/nsswitch.conf? HTH, Nalin
