I installed Fedora Core 1 last night on a Syntax S635MP motherboard with a VIA C3 1.3Giga Pro processor.
The first problem I'm having is up2date hangs and won't update the system:
----- Fetching package list for channel: fedora-core-1...
Fetching http://fedora.redhat.com/releases/fedora-core-1/headers/header.info...

Fetching rpm headers... ##### -----
I've tried using the default sources as well as mirrors and it's always the same thing. I also had to use the --nosig option because for some reason it's always complaining it does have a valid Red Hat GPG key. I re-imported the key several times and still it complains. I did an MD5 comparison of the key file to my other working systems and they match exactly.
The other problem I'm having is the CPU clock speed isn't recognized correctly. It's supposed to be a 1.3Ghz processor yet /proc/cpuinfo shows only the following:
processor : 0 vendor_id : CentaurHauls cpu family : 6 model : 7 model name : VIA Samuel 2 stepping : 3 cpu MHz : 796.466 cache size : 64 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu de tsc msr cx8 mtrr pge mmx 3dnow bogomips : 1589.24
