By the way... is there a mirror that is not all clogged up? -----Original Message----- From: fedora-list-admin@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:fedora-list-admin@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David L Norris Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2004 4:42 PM To: fedora list Subject: Re: FC2 test 1 On Thu, 2004-02-12 at 21:34, David Cary Hart wrote: > The problem is that users will then use Yum to install all the extras. > This could create a considerable bottleneck for updates. Downloading 3 GB of ISOs to install a working system places the network burden up front. With the Core OS on one CD you could spread those bandwidth requirements over a longer time frame. Unless everyone does "yum install '*'" it seems like this should conserve bandwidth at any given point in time. Anyone doing more than a few installations would surely be smart enough to create their own internal mirror and use boot.iso or netboot. -- David Norris http://www.webaugur.com/dave/ ICQ - 412039
