Hi Dave, Here's a diff between dmesg for 2149 and 2166. Some lines are slightly different but I don't know what it means. For example: 2149 says "using bus-master" and 2166 says "enabling bus-master" Also, kudzu says the following when switching between the 2 versions: The following network card has been removed from your system: 3Com Corporation | 3c905B-Combo [Deluxe Etherlink XL 10/100] I chose to "keep" the configuration Thanks, Vicki ************************* diff dmesg.dhcp.2166 dmesg.dhcp.2149 1c1 < Linux version 2.4.22-1.2166.nptl (bhcompile@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) (gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-6)) #1 Fri Jan 30 13:48:31 EST 2004 --- > Linux version 2.4.22-1.2149.nptl (bhcompile@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) (gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-6)) #1 Wed Jan 7 13:08:26 EST 2004 25c25 < Detected 448.060 MHz processor. --- > Detected 448.065 MHz processor. 28c28 < Memory: 320076k/327680k available (1474k kernel code, 7216k reserved, 1099k data, 136k init, 0k highmem) --- > Memory: 320080k/327680k available (1470k kernel code, 7212k reserved, 1096k data, 136k init, 0k highmem) 78c78 < blk: queue c0402f40, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff) --- > blk: queue c0400f40, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff) 100c100 < Freeing initrd memory: 159k freed --- > Freeing initrd memory: 160k freed 109c109 < usb-uhci.c: $Revision: 1.275 $ time 13:55:01 Jan 30 2004 --- > usb-uhci.c: $Revision: 1.275 $ time 13:16:59 Jan 7 2004 135c135 < inserting floppy driver for 2.4.22-1.2166.nptl --- > inserting floppy driver for 2.4.22-1.2149.nptl 138,148c138,140 < PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:0d.0 < 3c59x: Donald Becker and others. www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html < See Documentation/networking/vortex.txt < 00:0d.0: 3Com PCI 3c905B Cyclone 10/100/BNC at 0x2080. Can you capture dmesg output from 2149 and 2166 and see what stands out (if anything) in a diff of the two please?
