My /etc/exports file are only two lines:

/downloads/rh9  192.168.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash,sync)
/downloads       192.168.0.0/24(rw,no_root_squash,sync)

And as you can see, they are exactly the same, the permissions on the
two directories are the same too.....
