Hello I had same effect with my HP PSC750. Your actions are alright, had to do this too. But i have also inserted support for raw-support. afterwards it worked. Don't forget to /sbin/service cupsd restart after your changes in mime.types and mime.convs are done. Let us know, whether this helped.
