Any insights / work arounds before I bugzilla?

Try and repeat with the latest kernel. Yesterdays update merged -bk4
which had a merge from the scsi maintiainers repository.

The latest kernels (up to 2.6.1.57 ) were no help with this Fusion MPT SCSI driver hang at boot but thats not surprising after some more research. The kernel reports the driver version is only 2.05.00 but the author / maintainer has released patches for 3.00 on Jan 6 to 2.6.1-rc2 here:

http://seclists.org/lists/linux-kernel/2004/Jan/1506.html

The 2.05 MPT driver for the 2.4 kernel was released back in March '03.

Anyway I pulled the fusion 3.00.01 down * and recompiled the Fedora 2.6.1.57 with it and the driver hang is fixed. I still can't boot though as Init won't start due I believe due to some remaining disk access problem - can't tell. Note that an older FC kenel 2.6.0-32 still boots fine on the same system. Using selinux=0 in all cases and FC2 rawhide current to 3-4 days ago.
