I have not looked at LVM for a while, so my feelings about LVM may be out of 
date, but you cannot boot off a LVM partition.  I dont know whether LVM2/2.6 
addresses this or not.  The other issue is that not all filesystems are 
growable, no point growing a LV if the filesystem is static.
