Second SCSI card not added at boot

Hi all,

in my FC1 box, I've had an Adaptec SCSI controller for quite some time
(first a 2940U2W, now a 29160) - all is working fine.
To be able to use my Umax Powerlook 2000 SCSI scanner, I've added a
second SCSI card, a generic Symbios 53c810 card. The second card was
detected and configured by kudzu and the following entry was added to
/etc/modules.conf :

alias scsi_hostadapter1 ncr53c8xx

However, on boot, the Symbios card is not detected and no driver is
added. Once I run "modprobe -a scsi_hostadapter1" manually after booting
has completed, the card and the scanner are correctly detected and work
just fine.

Hence my question: Why does that entry in /etc/modules.conf not work?

Cheerio,

Thomas
