Unfortunately, still no luck. I tried diabling the graphical boot. Did not help. I tried disabling kudzu. Did not help. I tried adding "alias eth0 3c59x debug=6 options=4 full_duplex=1" to the modprobe.conf file. Did not help. Maybe I will try a new driver, as mentioned in the Bug 107389 report. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.
