Dear Ed Warner, ----- Original Message ----- From: <edwarner99@xxxxxxxxx> To: <fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2004 11:08 AM Subject: Update Mirrors | After having seen several questions regarding the | update process using mirrors, I have one. | | Where do the mirrors get there info from and how | often? They usually get their information direct from redhat.com.... Redhat gives priority access to mirrors. How often, I think that is up to the mirror. Most should start retrieving the information when it is posted to the site. | | Some other thread asked about the latest FC1 kernel, | and that was 2153, I think. Looking at the mirrors | myself, all I saw was 2149. 2149 is correct for the released kernel. If you want 2153 it may be in the testing area. Fedora Core is the actual install CDs. Just in case an update needs a package on the original CD. Fedora Update is the released updates area. This is usually the most stable. Fedora Testing is the highly bleeding edge area. Sorry, I like to call it that... It usually contains changes that may or may not be stable. It is for everyone who wants to test. | Thanks, | Good Luck, James Kosin | __________________________________ | Do you Yahoo!? | Yahoo!
