Would you tell me what modifications you had to make?
As i wrote in a previous post, i wasn't able to compile simply changing the spec file with a %define kpackage=1. I compiled from source, but kpackage later ran into several errors and it was pretty useless: it would open but wouldn't perform any real operation with rpms.
E.
I have put the hacked spec and a patch on web site so you can easily see the changes:
http://home.iprimus.com.au/mutk/kdeadmin/kdeadmin.spec.patch http://home.iprimus.com.au/mutk/kdeadmin/kdeadmin.spec
BTW, there are a few extra packages and deps needed to be able to build. I hope (assume ) that since you were able to build from source successfully, you should be able to build from src.rpm using the spec file.
Here is what I installed to get the build to succeed: 01/16/04 14:17:28 Installed: qt-devel 1:3.1.2-14.i386 01/16/04 14:19:07 Installed: XFree86-devel 4.3.0-42.i386 01/16/04 14:19:07 Dep Installed: pkgconfig 1:0.14.0-6.i386 01/16/04 14:19:07 Dep Installed: fontconfig-devel 2.2.1-6.1.i386 01/16/04 14:19:07 Dep Installed: freetype-devel 2.1.4-5.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Installed: kdelibs-devel 6:3.1.4-4.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Installed: libjpeg-devel 6b-29.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Installed: rpm-devel 4.2.1-0.30.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Installed: libpng-devel 2:1.2.2-17.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Installed: bzip2-devel 1.0.2-10.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Dep Installed: pcre-devel 4.4-1.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Dep Installed: arts 8:1.1.4-3.i386 01/16/04 14:22:33 Dep Installed: kdelibs 6:3.1.4-4.i386 01/16/04 14:31:34 Installed: gcc-c++ 3.3.2-1.i386 01/16/04 14:31:34 Dep Installed: libstdc++-devel 3.3.2-1.i386 01/16/04 14:37:05 Installed: arts-devel 8:1.1.4-3.i386 01/16/04 14:43:07 Installed: libart_lgpl-devel 2.3.16-1.i386
I do have to ask why such a need for kpackage? It is quite nice to look at, but it doesn't appear to do anything more than a small number of commandline + options could acheive.
ie 'yum list' 'yum list available' 'yum info <somepackage>' 'yum update' 'yum install <somepackage'>
I haven't tried keeping a fedora machine up to date using kpackage. In fact I don't know where to start. I do see that it has capability to use apt, so maybe it can do it that way ?
Cheers, Michael
