Seems to be the default gnome foot. Did you delete anything under /usr/share/pixmaps?
Last year I had a nifty program in the taskbar what was 1 to 4 boxes for cpu/network/swap/? performance. Is that still therer?
Right mouse click on the panel, choose "add to panel" -> "utility" -> "system monitor". Right click on the icon you can configure it's outlook.
