xcopy is not a suitable tool for backing up under Windows.
But, the freeware utility xxcopy is.
The xxcopy utility works but the freeware version forces you to push
enter with each invocation. Currently the backup script has many
xcopies copying config files, source directories, etc from here and
there, some copies take quite a while (hours over wireless) if there has
been a change. So sitting watching it was not what I had in mind.
Looks like the cheapest licence for xxcopy is US$40 (1.5x that for me)
and for that much dinero I could buy a backup program at the local
computer store! So since Samba does not seem to work right with xcopy I
guess I'm back to implementing my own copy solution unless someone has
some other thoughts. BTW, an append on the Samba forum about this has
brought forth no response to date...
Kind regards,
Mike
