You echoed what many of us feel. When RH abandoned their lower end products and made buying Linux from that as expensive as buying Windows it left many of us home users in a bind. I'm willing to pay for updates, but once the cost starts to approach the cost of Windows (or higher) it's hard to justify to my wife that we should be spending that much money when Windows is more compatible with software, etc. When it's free or cheap it's less of a problem.
