OK Sorry if I sound numb (this problem solving is new to me - Im pretty new the the OS) I notice GDM is loaded everytime I boot, is there an easy way to just disable this and have the command line start up perhaps edit the init file?
John,
sorry but I can only help you with your second question... To boot in text mode only , change the /etc/inittab file and change the line
id:5:initdefault:
to
id:3:initdefault:
This will make the system start always at run level 3 and gdm and X wont be loaded automatically.
