Will Fedora Project maintain other packages... let's say PureFTPd?

What about "deprecated" packages which have been replaced by new major
version such as apache 1.3.2x???
That means they have to compile PHP twice for every major version, and
other packages...

/me still using 1.3.28 and PHP 4.3.3 on something that is suppose to
be RedHat Linux 9.
