What do you mean?
[root@casa etc]# rpm -qa |grep alsa
alsa-utils-0.9.8-1.fr
xmms-alsa-1.2.8-3.2.fr
alsa-lib-0.9.8-2.fr
alsa-driver-0.9.8-4.fr
kernel-module-alsa-0.9.8-4.fr_2.4.22_1.2115.nptl

In fact, I'm using it :-)

[root@casa etc]# lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
snd-pcm-oss 45188 0 (autoclean)
snd-mixer-oss 16304 1 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss]
snd-via82xx 17056 1 (autoclean)
snd-mpu401-uart 5072 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx]

snd-ac97-codec 51832 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx]
snd-pcm 84996 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-via82xx]
snd-timer 19748 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm]
snd 46660 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss
snd-via82xx snd-mpu401-uart snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-ac97-codec
snd-pcm snd-timer]
gameport 3380 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx]
snd-page-alloc 9876 0 (autoclean) [snd-via82xx snd-pcm]
soundcore 6500 4 (autoclean) [snd]

What I don't understand is why we need to make it work manually, while
those other creepy sound systems (yeah, arts and uuuh, esd) are
installed by default. Once I started using alsa my mozilla and
frozen-bubble just stopped to crash :-)
