When the error messages appear it may ask you if you wish to try
configuring X.

If it does not, try pressing ALT + 2, which will bring you to a text
terminal, login as root and try redhat-config-xfree86.

this should provide you with a half decent gui interface to setting up
X.

As Matthias has said, if this does not help, please provide additional
error messages and more information about your graphics
card/motherboard, and any thing else you think might be helpful.
